	Outstanding Communication Award of CGIAR to Dr Paul Van Mele	Dr Van Mele received this award for the successful Rice Rural Learning Initiative based on farmer-to-farmer videos on improved rice production practices.

2009	Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole to Dr Papa Abdoulaye Seck, AfricaRice Director General (2006 – to date)	This title was conferred on Dr Seck for his significant contribution to agricultural science for Africa.
	Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers to Mr Amos Onasanya	Mr Onasanya from AfricaRice received this award for his contribution to the molecular characterization/pathotyping of major rice diseases and insect pests in Africa.

2008	Outstanding Partnership Award of CGIAR to AfricaRice Rice Network “ROCARIZ”	ROCARIZ received the award for successfully fostering a high level of national involvement in collaborative research to improve rice productivity.

2007	Medal of Honor of CORAF/WECARD to Dr Papa Abdoualye Seck, AfricaRice Director General (2006 – to date)	Dr Seck was recognized for his outstanding support to agricultural research in West and Central Africa

2006	Burkina Faso Presidential Prize to Dr Moussa Sié	Dr Sié received this prize for the success of new rice varieties which are helping to increase the rice productivity and production in Burkina Faso
	Japan International Koshihikari Rice Prize to Dr Moussa Sié	Dr Sié from AfricaRice received this prize for his significant contributions to rice production in sub-Saharan Africa through the development of the lowland NERICA varieties.
	United Nations Award for South-South Triangular Partnership to AfricaRice	This award is presented for championing the South-South agenda. AfricaRice received this award because of its pioneering efforts in brokering North-South partnerships in order to create varieties of rice applicable to conditions in the South.

2004	World Food Prize to Dr Monty Jones	Known informally as the “Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture,” this prize recognizes individuals who have increased the quality, quantity, or availability of food in the world. Dr Jones received this prize for his discovery of the genetic process to create the NERICA at AfricaRice.

2003	Grand Prix du Président de la République du Sénégal pour les Sciences to AfricaRice and partners	AfricaRice scientific team based in Senegal and their partners received this award for the adaptation and dissemination of the ASI thresher, the most widely used rice thresher in the country

2001	Commandeur dans l’ordre du mérite Ivoirien to Dr Kanayo F. Nwanze, AfricaRice Director General (1996-2006)	Dr Nwanze received this title for distinguished services to West and Central Africa
	Officier dans l’ordre du Mérite Ivoirien to Drs Monty Jones, Kouame Miezan, Sitapha Diatta, and Mark Etsiba	Drs Jones, Miezan, Diatta, and Etsiba received this title for their contributions to rice R&D and research support

2000	King Baudouin International Agricultural Research Award of CGIAR presented to AfricaRice (ex-WARDA).	This award is given for significant contribution to the development of the Third World. AfricaRice received this award for the breakthrough in interspecific hybridization of rice and effective participatory approaches in technology dissemination.
