Major Achievements: |
- Initiated and led checking of physical attendance of over 1000 contractual employees against payroll, resulting in major savings for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in Mali. - Coordinated efforts in the ILCA DDG/Research office to formalize research planning and review process, resulting in development and implementation of project based planning, budgeting, reporting and evaluation system, establishment of a Research Operations Manual with standard annual work plan, budget and progress report formats. - As a member of Administration Task force for merger of ILCA and ILRAD to form ILRI, participated and made significant contributions to the development and implementation of various ILRI administrative policies, operating procedures and guidelines; led and successfully concluded negotiations with the Ethiopian government for the signing of ILRI’s Host Country Agreement in 1995. - As part of the rationalization process, led and participated in phasing out activities in field stations in Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. - Facilitated the outsourcing of some general service functions (Office cleaning, garden & grounds maintenance, carpentry and painting) and helped former employees organize themselves into cooperatives and successfully compete for the business. |
